Wash the tail well through. Just follow the little openness is a good girl. That’s a good girl. The length of the tail depends upon the size of the dog. If you got a feminine bitch so she had tail one won’t need to be as long at the root as a taller male dog.
But whatever we always start from the bone which is about half an inch. I always take the normal straight scissors for this and make a cut. The bone is here and I cut there in a straight line about what very drastic, but if you hold it up then you got a starting point to take off the rest.
If you’re worried about this at all, use the thinning scissors all through and not the plain scissors. I’m going to use the plain scissors and then finish off with the thinning scissors. He wants to be a nice curve deeply using cuts through the root. If it's wavy and kinky like her you have to just pull it down to assess it.
And then I always hang it down at the end and justly cut like that so that it looks good. Brush it through again from whatever angle and then just take the thinning scissors and just tie it off at the end to create a natural look. When that dog is shampooed there won’t be any cut marks.
