And from credit card offers to sweepstakes ad, the junk mail just keeps on coming and it clogs at the mailbox, right? Jeanette Pavini tells us how to clear out all the clutter in today’s Better Ways to Save. Well not only does junk mail take time and energy to deal with ones it comes in the door. Pre-approved credit offers can be used by identity thieves to open bogus accounts in your name. Now, while there is no national do not mail registry, here’s what you can do to cut down on a clutter and the inconvenience. The U.S. Postal Service says that over a hundred billion pieces of junk mail wind up in American mail boxes every year. They say that average is out to about 800 pieces per household. Now there are different kinds of junk mail. To stop mail from direct marketers, you can register online at www.dmachoice.org or you can send a dollar and your request by mail to the direct Marketer’s Association. For flyers, call the distribution company’s phone number listed on the mailer. To stop catalogues, call the same number you call to order goods and ask to be taken off the mailing list. And contact the three major credit bureaus to stop receiving pre-approved credit offers. So, these are just some of the most common types of junk mail. There are others and you can find more resources for getting rid of other kinds of bad junk mail by going to www.donotmail.org To check that out, great advice Jeanette, thank you.
