How to Get Oscar Winning Locks with Matrix Artistic Director, Ammon Carver
Male: Hi! I’m Matrix Artistic designer Ammon Carver. Well this year on the red carpet we saw a lot of looks with sexy expose shoulders like the girls here in panel row and by the way minimum makeup and a lot of upped styled hair. My favorite was Diane Kruger who really did it right with the braided twisted Shannon. This intricate look is actually really easy to achieve and the key is to start with a few dubs of a texture cream. My favorite is Design Pulse Loosely Defined. Run it through the hair and then create a braided bun in the back and then twist the sides in the front and incorporate into the bun with a few bobby pin and whala! You have a textured bond that’s that perfect balance of casual elegance.
Sandra Bullock, also look amazing. She not only won for best actress but she got my pick for best hair because her hair was shiny, it was perfectly placed and had that healthy hair look. The key to keeping your hair looking healthy is to provide heat protection from those styling tools. I like to use Biolage Thermo-active Repair Creame before I blow dry the hair. Once the hair is blown smooth to get Sandra’s beautiful soft ripple, I wrap a large barrel curling iron around the ends and then follow up with a repair gloss to give that ultimate shine.
Now, either one of this ladies and all those celebrities on the red carpet definitely didn’t start off the evening with out a little bit of hair spray. I like this one by Vavoom. A few spritzes of this and they’ll be ready to tackle the red carpet, the main event at the academy awards and all of the after parties after the show. This season in hair color, you’re going to be seeing some subtle changes and highlights. Not so much focus on red hair being in or brunettes being in but more multi-dimensional hair color that has soft subtle highlights and again lots and lots of shine focusing on that beautiful, beautiful healthy hair.
The make up on the red carpet this year was all about focusing on one feature at a time, a bold poppy red or pink lip mix with the softer more settle eye or the opposite a strong eye with a more subdued soft lip.
