A clogged drain can really be a big mess. Clogged drains can be easy to clear if the drain pipes are designed properly. This kitchen drain pipe, it could have been better designed. Hi, I am Tim Carter from askthebuilder.com.
Let me show you some clogged drain tips.

This kitchen drain line got clogged not long ago. Because of all the fittings between the sink trap and here, it was nearly impossible for the drain snake to get past this 90 degree bend just before the clogged section of drain pipe.
These required 90 degree bend could it have been created using different PVC fittings. They would have allowed the snake to get to the clog. One way is to use a 90 degree fitting that has a gentle bend. When placed side by side, you can really see the difference. This 90 degree fitting has a very gentle bend that is plumbing snake friendly.
Another way is to use two 45 degree fittings together to make a 90 degree bend. The farther apart you place the fittings, the easier it is for the snake to get past the bend. My favorite way to solve a clogged kitchen drain when the drain piping is accessible is to use a Y fitting, a 45 degree bend fitting and a clean out fitting.
The Y fitting has the first 45 degree bend built into it, add the second 45 degree fitting that complete the 90 degree turn, insert the clean up fitting on the straight section of the Y and you are finished.
Check it out, I have got the parts. Here it is, here is the Y, the clean out and a 45. You stick the Y on this way, rotate it put the 45 on to make your 90. Here is the best part, if this drain ever gets clogged, check this out. I can actually unscrew the plug that will be back here and I can put the snake right down it to clear out the drain. It is that simple.
