How to find the best swim suits for your body
Alison: Finding a swimsuit that place up your best assets can be tough. So we called in A swimsuit expert from Canyon Beachwear, Kathleen Mudd to show us how to find the best bikini for your body.
Now everyone wants to have long, lean legs but for those of us not -- legs like Giselle, Kathleen what are the some things to make our legs look longer.
Kathleen: Actually, buy a suit that is higher cut up on the leg, giving the illusion that your leg is longer. So you can see this suit that Ashley is wearing now is more of a traditional cut and so it tends to cut off her leg. But what you want to do is to raise the strap a bit and you can see how much longer her leg looks.
Alison: Besides adding in a few hundred extra crunches, what are some tips to elongate her torso?
Kathleen: Well one of the things that you want to do to elongate the torso is actually show as much stomach as possible. When you look at Britney you can see by her wearing a smaller bikini, this elongates her torso, what you don’t want to do is to shorten the torso by wearing a banded top or tankini top and a high waisted bottom because that is really going to shorten you up here.
Alison: Another area we are always trying to complement is our back side. What can we do to minimize any problems we have back there?
Kathleen: You don’t want to cover up the area so much and wear something that is really big because that will emphasize what you are covering. What you really want to do is wear a little bit less coverage on the back and thereby making your bum look a little bit smaller. And go with some darker colors.
Alison: Now for those of us who are not looking to minimize but actually want to give our backsides a little -- what kind of suits should we look for?
Kathleen: You know this is actually an area where you want to have more coverage. You want to look for something with a ruffle or maybe a little skirt, something with a busy print. What we put Britney in here to emphasize her back side is this fun little print there by emphasizing the bum a little bit more.
Alison: Okay now the chest is another part of the body that woman have a tough time with. For those who are a little well in doubt, what are some tops and styles that we should look for?
Kathleen: Well you know one of the most important things is to get a top that actually fits. Now swimwear is available in bra sizes. The other thing that you want to look for is something with a lot of support, and if you go with a darker color, of course that’s going to tend to make you look smaller. As you can see this cup looks great on Ashley. So if you want to minimize a bigger bust, think halter, think underwire and think darker colors.
Alison: Okay now, this is now this is my fit issue, for those people who need a little boost in the bust area like myself, what are some tops and styles that we should look for?
Kathleen: A light color, because light expands it, it is not minimizing like black. Also something that has little rushing or ruffle or maybe it sheared on the top and then finally of course something with pads. You don’t want to go with the triangle version of the top, you can always go a halter which is going to give you a little bit more lift and ump.
