When we did the tutorial on the Speed Dial addon for Firefox we got lots of nice emails about it. Many of the emails wanted ...
to know if it was possible to copy or transfer your work to another copy of Speed Dial. As a matter of fact it's very possible and here's how it's done.

Hi, this Mike Callahan, Doctor File Finder and welcome to your Butterscotch.com tutorial on duplicating your speed dial setup. I did a segment on speed dial. It was very well received. It got some nice e-mails about it. I have a link to that one in the show notes and e-mails I got were asking me, “Was it possible after you spend all this time making these nice looking links to your speed dial items to duplicate it” and yes, it is. So here in Firefox I'm going to click on tools. I am going to click on add-ons. Now add-ons open up. You want to scroll down the speed dial, click on options.
Now you can look here under settings, export settings. So exports settings, it will show you a file dialog so you can pick where you want it to go. I am going to have to go to the desktop. It says current settings. Just remember what the name is and that’s done. Just say OK and close this. Now just to show you in a new copy of Firefox that you just put speed dial in you just do the same process, tools, add-ons, speed dial. You would go to settings and you would say import settings and it would import the file that you just exported from your copy of speed dial and amazingly, it comes up exactly, exactly like the one you have already configured and spent time at.
So it is very cool. It is a quick way to transfer your speed dial settings from one copy of Firefox to another and that is all there is to it.
