Colleen Saringer: When you are on the road, it's not always easy to get your exercise routine in but here are few simple exercises that I like to do when I'm straying in a hotel room. The first exercise is the tricep pushup, this exercise works the muscles on the back of you arm. Go ahead and grab a chair with the hard surface or even use the backs of it if you have to. Place your hands on the chair next to you so that your body weight is resting in the palm of your hands. Go ahead and take a step forward so that your body weight is now being supported in the palm of your hands.
With your elbows tucked in, lower yourself down toward the floor and then push yourself back up. If you're only able to go down half way, that's fine as well. Repeat this exercise anywhere from 12-15 times. The next exercise is the reverse lunge. This exercise works all the muscles of the lower body that includes your quads, your hamstrings and your glutes. You will do this exercise one leg at a time. Go ahead and take a nice wide step back with your right leg and then push yourself back up. When you take that wide step make sure that you maintain your balance and keep your knee from going over your toe. You want to do this exercise 12-15 times on both legs. Be sure to talk to a doctor before starting any exercise program, and remember no matter how busy you are, you can fit exercise into your daily routine. I'm exercise physiologist Colleen Saringer keeping you in the motion zone.
