Good to have you here Ellie. Ellie Krieger: And need to be here Audra. Audra Lowe: It seems like it is tough when you go to the restaurant that’s the time it just letting all go to see whatever you want right? Ellie Krieger: I love to cook but I also love to eat out and for there is way you can do it to make it smarter. Audra Lowe: The first thing that you say in your book is to really just pick the right restaurant, preview the menu. How important is that when you going out? Ellie Krieger: Okay, well you know picking the right restaurant key because the thing is if you go to the grilled barbeque place you are not going to order the salad honestly. Audra Lowe: Right. Ellie Krieger: So go to a place that specializes in making delicious healthy foods even if it’s a pizza place for example. Some will even specializing wonderful vegetables that you can get on the side or you know and to pause like that that will be you know exciting and interesting so you are not going to feel surprise so— Audra Lowe: And you can choose what you want before you go, so that’s the good thing right? Ellie Krieger: That’s the other thing, check online most restaurants have there menu online so that kind to give ammunition and then prevent impulsive choices so you have writs about you, you can brows them in you and make your choice in online if you can. Audra Lowe: Now this next tip is taught for a lot of people because you love the bread basket, you love the olive oil and dip too. You are saying we got to skip it all to get that work? Ellie Krieger: You know what the thing is ask them to bring the bread basket with the food. Audra Lowe: Okay. Ellie Krieger: This way you won’t be having whole thing because you know we are going to be tempted to do that. Audra Lowe: Yeah. Ellie Krieger: Secondly, olive oil is 120 calories per tablespoon a tablespoons not a lot. Audra Lowe: Oh yeah, right. Ellie Krieger: And at one piece red can sometime suck that up. Audra Lowe: Okay. Ellie Krieger: So really you know what skip that part, save your appetite for the better stuffs. Audra Lowe: And putting prospective like that I think people we’re to skip it all together. What about the super salad? Should you start with one, should you skip it and— Ellie Krieger: Yeah, research shows if you start with a soup like a vegetable soup, a light soup or salad you will actually eat fewer calories at rest of the meal. So it can actually help satisfy you with your calories. Audra Lowe: Now the appetizers, I need you to explain this because you say order to appetizers. Is that in place of the meal or— Ellie Krieger: Yes. Audra Lowe: Okay not as good as you say. Ellie Krieger: You know it’s about portion size and we got a name course of pasta and it’s a trap of pasta and honestly and I mean let’s be realistic so if you get two appetizers so or a appetizer and a half order of this or something like that which I’ll do with pasta for example very often, two appetizer are great way to go. Audra Lowe: Now what about the menu? You have great tips in here for decoding the menu there is certain buzz words of the years. Ellie Krieger: Oh yeah, I mean we think we don’t want a fry food but you don’t really as millionaires, parmesan, tempura and there is always different crispy as good cord wards. Audra Lowe: And in your book you go a lot of details and explain more better. Ellie Krieger: Will in my books is all about cooking actually so cooking at home are one of things that the book that I do is help you make restaurant food that food that you are want for. Audra Lowe: Right. Ellie Krieger: And rest one but make it at home and make it healthier so. Audra Lowe: So you when you are making it home two yards your typically work get a fish but not fried so when you are at home do the way right? Ellie Krieger: Exactly, exactly and in the restaurant absolutely fish is usually the best choice if you are not sure with the way to go, get the fish just make sure it’s not a freid. Audra Lowe: Okay. Ellie Krieger: Absolutely. Audra Lowe: You got to save to your food and make sure that you are don’t skip just going after your body is telling you to stop right? Ellie Krieger: Right absolutely so you order something good or like I say make it at home you know so some examples of food to make at home are pork with mash potatoes and gravy and spinach and just like restaurant food and you can make it at home but make it so easy and that’s really show in my books that you don’t have to go out to eat in order to make it so.
