Now let's move to another game based drill to help players get to the net. Although it's a bit of a classic, it's still one that many of you will find new and innovative. Plus, this exercise works well for almost every level of play.
It goes like this. Have the players begin their rally, and the coach or an extra player blows a whistle or calls out go, to signal the players to immediately charge the net. It's simple, it works, and it's fun.
For advanced players, have them start on the baseline exchanging groundstrokes as we have been demonstrating, but for more beginning level players, have them start on the service lines, playing mini tennis. You can also adapt this game easily for singles or doubles, and it works well if you are running a workout with many players on several courts at a time.
