Submissions 101: The D'Arce Choke. I've had several requests for the D'Arce choke, also known as Brabo choke, very similar in their application. It's basically compression choke, similar to an Anaconda choke, almost like an arm-triangle. So we're going to show you how to do the D'Arce.
It became very popular when Kendall Grove choked down his opponent at UFC 69, I believe, and people went crazy, it's D'Arce choke. So I am going to show you how to do this; quite simple in this application. So, opponent here is kind of scrolling down, you go and take your hand on the outside and you're going to feed it in, his arm here, right underneath his neck, like so. And there are different controls to beat your partner down. One of them is grabbing a gable grip here, and tossing them on to their back. Okay, also known as the three-quarter in wrestling.
I do it a little bit differently, it's up to you, but when I come in and I am going for that kind of arm-triangle, instead of class being right away, what I am going to do is, I am going to hold tight, I am going to feed in, hand on the back, here. Okay, so it kind of looks a rear naked.
Now I am going to use my body to toss; now his arm is back. Now, what I need to do is move down towards his feet, here. And I am compressing, and I am squeezing at the same time.
Now I am going to show you from the other angle. Again, here, I'll go underneath, hand on the back, nice and tight, and so I get him down. So now he is down. Now you'll see I am not going to stay here. I am going to move down towards his body, in this direction. I need to add compression to his neck, and I am squeezing.
One more time, little bit faster. So it's here, underneath. So it's very important when you are doing it, you have to circle around towards the feet and that's when the compressions comes up. D'Arce Choke!
