Hi! My name is Tina Cohen, I am a make-up artist and hairstylist and today I am here at Nigel's Beauty Emporium in North Hollywood. I am going to teach you today how to do an emo hairstyle using different techniques. Emo is sort of a whole new fashion style that's come out of musical sort of culture.
So basically, what I will be showing you today is different techniques you can use at home to color your hair, cut your hair, and style your hair. I am going to be showing you some really fun color today. We will be doing like a really nice blue-black color as well as some more creative sort of funky colors as well.
I am also going to be showing you how to use color without dyeing your hair with the use of extensions. This is something that's a little bit difficult to do at home but they do now sell clip and extensions on the market that you can use and buy, and they are really simple, they just clip into your hair if you don't want to damage your hair through color. I am also going to be showing you different hair-cutting techniques that you can try at home. Most in the emo bands that I worked with admitted that they actually do cut their own hair. So it is possible. So I will show you some really good techniques to do that, on your own at home.
Also I am going to show you different styling techniques to get that emo hairstyling look through use of flat irons blow drying. Some of the products we will be using today is dye, we will be using bleach, we will also be using hair cutting shears and razors, as well as different styling products for men and women.
Just some safety precautions first, you want to be careful when you are using any kind of chemicals dyeing your hair, but you can also use store bought products as well, it's a little bit more safe and user-friendly. Also, you want to be careful whenever you are using scissors or sharp tools.
A little bit about myself, I have been working for about five years now in Los Angeles doing hair and make-up, I have worked on over 40 music videos and I have a list of celebrities I worked with ranging from Snoop Dogg to Will Ferrell to Alkaline Trio, like I said for music videos and films as well. Alright, you are ready? Let's do it, let's get started.
