With the prep work on the jointer done, we’re ready to get to these boards glued together. We only need to get glue on one board of each of the two that make up a seam. I’ll apply the glue from a glue bottle and then I want to spread it into a uniform film using this brush, trying to make sure that whole edge is covered. I’ll follow this same sequence all the way down my run here.

In a large, glue up like this. It can sometimes be difficult to keep each board level with the adjacent board. The straighter we can keep this glue up the easier its going to be when the glue is dry and we have to flatten this top out. What I like to do is use a small clamp like this and bridge the scene between the two boards. Now the pads, top and bottom are holding those two boards level, so I don’t have to fight them as I tighten up my bar clamps. With all those clamps in place, we can close the bar clamps and watch our seams come closed. This is a great technique to get yourself a reasonably flat top in your glue up.
