Let's finish this section with various Ball Routines. These drills are very popular because they can be made to closely resemble a point in a match.
The player begins behind the middle of the base line while the coach is straddling the center service line. Holding several balls, the coach then rolls or tosses the balls to either side of the player who moves to the ball and catches it from the roll or after the first bounce. The player then immediately bends down and rolls it back to the coach or partner.
The point must continue as the coach rolls and tosses between three and six balls. If the player catches and returns all the balls he or she wins one point. However, if he or she drops a ball or if the ball passes them, they would lose the point. It can be scored like a regular game with the coach making sure to keep the players working as hard as possible to win in a closely contested match.
