Now, this bedroom was full of an eclectic mix of old furniture, and with the little rearranging and some brand new corbel end tables, it's transformed into a stylish and symmetrical room and if you want to see how it's done, it's less than a $100 and half a day. Stick around because it's about to unfold. Now designers use corbels to give definition to a space and to take the sharp edge off of modern architecture. A corbel is a decorative bracket of stone or wooden plaster, projecting from the face of a wall. Home improvement stores carry a variety of different styles. Now we are going to use them to blend two things together, the existing trim around the doors and also this old bed that's been handed down through generations. Now to give these corbels a little designer touch, we are going to put a new top made out of birch plywood. It's going to be three inches around the outside parameter. And then to dress it up, we are going to use some of these molding. We are going to wrap it around the birch, giving it a little lift. So if you have anything up there, a pen, a book, a clock, they won't slide out. Okay, that's the top attached, now the next step is to paint them white and you are going to love them. I do. Now the key to the architectural detail and design is making sure the whole room flows. That's why we chose the white color. Now it's the same white color as the rest of the trim in the room, it's being incorporated some of these colonial trim. We have the colonial trim and the corbel. We also have the scroll work which is represented on the bed. Together, they are a fusion. Look at that, easier than falling out of a canoe. Now what was once a room that lacked architectural elegance, it's screaming style and dimension. These two corbels less than $25 a piece are exactly what we needed to build right entitled and a great room.
