How to Crochet Adult Size Sock Slippers Part 27/29
For line number 22, we’re going to be cording. So what we’re going to do is we’re going to chain up two. If we look here, not the top but actually where it attaches, these are called post and they’re on every single stitch no matter where you see it. So what we want to do is that in order to achieve this effect here to the ribbing. You have to grab on this to the post instead of the top. So let’s go in to what we do is we just push in and we push out, we grab your material and then half double crochet like we normally do.
To achieve the ribbing effect that we just seen, what we got to do is just wrap your material and now to the very next post that’s right beside it, instead of grabbing it on the forward side, we’re going to grab on the back side. So we go to the back, we push through and then we push out. It comes out at the back just like so, grab your material and pull it through. We’re going to push in, wrap it. I’ve corded quite a bit and so I’m making it look a lot easier but you push through; grab your material, pull it through onto the back side and then half double crochet all the way through. So the next one we’ve just come from the back side so the next one we’re going to come from that side that’s closest to you. And again just pull through and then half double crochet. The next one is on the back side.
So we’re just going back and forth on the post using the half double crochet method. I was on the fourth post gets on the sides; the next one is on the back. Pushing it through the back, pushing it back out and the next one is on my side. So you just keep doing this all the way around and now the secret to the final row which is the next one is that is the post was on the back side, then you’re going to want and grab the post from the back side again. So that you cause the ribbing, see all the ribbing? This is actually two lines that are causing this ribbing, so if I grab the post from the one side you grab it from the same side the second time around to make that ribbing really to stand out.
I know I’m having a hard time explaining that but I always have a hard time explaining cording generally. Grabbing and pulling it through, half treble. So the next one is on, I just grab that last one from the back. So this one is on the forward, dropped back and you see what happened there? I’ve dropped color here so it’s just showing right up, so I’m going to pull the out. That was on the forward so this next one is on the back. Since with the cording you have to be very paying attention to both sides of your material, you drop a string like that you’re screwed. If you don’t pick up on it right away, she’ll be unraveling your stuff in order to fix it; so the next one is on the back side, pulling it through.
The next one is on the forward, so just keep doing this all the way around. Next one is on the back. I’m going to pull it off camera because it’ easier for me to put it on my lap for the cording. So just keep going all the way around and I’ll meet you back up and we’ll cord again.
