To make it traditional granny square just a very simple one, we’re going to start our material like we always do, so we're going to wrap it around your finger, pull the second over the first and now pull this one over that one and push up with your finger and you have your first stitch. And what we want to do is that the granny square is a square we obviously want to create the center of the square, so this is considered one so we're going to chain three more. So this count is one so we’re going to have a total of four. So one two three and four.
And now what we're going to do is that we're going to grab your needle stick it into the first stitch you created. This is called the slip stitch. What you're going to do is grab your material through pull it through that one using your nasty finger and your thumb holding it in a place and continue to pull through. And the reason why is that where—if I release it off that is the center of your square right in the center of piece there.
So by holding your finger there you can feel where the hole is. So now we’re going to create our second line around. And what we're going to do is that we're going to chain up five. So one two three four and five. And what we’re going to do now is that we’re going to double crochet around the center of the circle so we’re going to wrap you material around the needle and while we’re still holding in the middle that is the center of your point of your granny square so you just stick it right in grabbing your material again through and now you'll have three sections left on your hook, you're going to pull through only two and then two. And we're going to do three of these in a row so that’s considered one, wrapping your material around going into the center.
Okay pull through two and two, wrapping your material around going into the center hole again, pulling it through you'll have three left on board pulling through two and two. So this is considered one side if you kind of look at it this is on this side and then these three are on the one side, so what we're going to do now is we’re going to chain two. So one and two. And what we’re going to do now is that we're going to put three more of these double crochets in the circle again. And see the straggler, we want to hold that in the position now and we’re going to be crocheting that into the loops so you'll never see it.
So wrapping your material around pulling it through, pulling it through two and pulling it through two and so we want to three of these in a row so we're going to wrap going to the center of the circle pulling it out again two and two. Okay, going around again into the circle, okay through two and two and now we’re done to one side, you see the squares starting to come out so we’re going chain two, one and two.
Okay, we’re going to go into the center of the circle again for another three in a row. Now, I'm holding that straggler in the place so it kind of gets crochet into there so you'll never see the beginning point of your crochet. And we want three of these right in a row. Okay, wrapping your needle around like you have before going into the center pulling it through and two and two.
So now you see we’re almost finishing square here so one and two. And what we’re going to do is going into the center of the circle. Now do you see how, this is where we started this count as one so we’re only going to do two of these in a row, one two and then another one, and this is called a slip stitch what we’re about to do.
Okay, so we need to join this one with these two here to make it to one side and it’s called the slip stitch so you can either count two back here or just count three and just stick it in your hole pulling the material through and through. And you now have a complete granny square.
Okay, so let's do another rotation around so we’re going to chain up five. So one two three four and five. So what we’re going to do now is that we’re going to go into the corner of the section now to make it even bigger so wrapping your material around going into the corner, so for two and two. And in the corner again through two and two and in the corner again for two and two.
So what we’re going to do is now that we’re now going to skip over this section because this is a traditional granny square so we’re going to chain one only. And now we’re going to go right directly into the other corner, so wrap your material around and we're going to do three of these in a row, so just in the very corner.
And now we are now going to do an official turn of the corner, so we’re now going to chain two, one and two. And what we're going to do is wrap you needle around and go in to the corner section again. And we’re going to put three of these again into this corner section.
And what we're going to do is we're going to jump to this corner so we’re going to chain one only and wrap your material around and go in to the corner for three in a row. And then what we’re going to need to do is chain two because we’re going to do a turn so one and two and then going into the same corner for another three in a row.
So now we've just officially done that corner there so what we’re going to do is we’re going to chain one only jumping to the other corner here and were going to do three in a row.
Okay, so what we're going to do now, we officially need to turn, so one and two and going into the same corner. We’re doing three in a row like we’ve always have. So now we’re coming up and this is count as one of them but what we’re going to do is we’re going to chain one and do you see how its coming up like it looks kind of messed up, what we're going to do is you're going to wrap your material around and you're going to go right into the hole there. I know it doesn’t look right but that’s the way you do it. And then do it one more time.
And then what we're going to do, do you see how it’s coming off like that? We need to slip stitch it so you can either count two back or count two that way and what we’re going to do is we're going to slip stitch. So stick your needle into the hole pulling it through and through.
So there you go so far and so we’ll go around. Continuing along what we’re going to do is we’re going to chain up five like we always have and this would be the last time I need to show you this because you can stop at any point, two three four and five. You can stop it at any point with the granny square and where you want to, I'm hopping you need it but once you understand how and where you're jumping in order to create the traditional granny square then you're laughing, you can do blankets like this, you can do anything like these.
So we put three in a row like we have with the other corner we're going to now jump over and the next space is actually in the middle of the line, right it's not on the end like it was. So you jump over by chaining one so you're just going to wrap your material and go right into that next hole for three in a row.
Okay, so we're going to chain one and now we're going to go into the corner. As long as you understand that you chain one in between at each jumping at the hole in between the corners then you're laughing if you—that makes any sense. Okay, we are now doing an official turn so were going to now chain two, one and two going into the same hole into the corner.
So now what we're going to do you’ve just completed your corner so now we chain one only jumping to the hole that is in the middle of the line. You see as you go bigger they’ll be more holes to crochet in between the corners as long as you chain one and between each one you’re laughing. So chain one again because we’re now jumping and this one is on the corner. So put three in there, okay now, chain two because you're turning one and two into the same hole into the corner.
Okay, so your next hole then is in the middle of the line, so chain one only and jump across. Okay and chain one only and you're doing the corner and put section now here. So just do your three. And because you’re turning chain two, one and two going into the corner. So now your next one is in the middle of the line, so let's just chain one only.
Okay, so now at your very end where you're going to slip stitch where you're going to wrap your material around and see how it comes off like this. Okay, you were just going to go right into this hole here and we're going to put two in a row. Do you see that? Because this piece is part of that and it’s called the slip stitch so you can count up if you want to as long as you have two leaves lest at the end. It’s just a slip stitch so just stick it trough pulling it through and go.
Okay, so the basic concepts of your granny square is every time now that you're starting you go to chain up five and you're going start it doing on the one side of the granny square in the corner and you got to work your way across, so if you go to do it again you now have two in the middle, right. So as long as you chain one in between the middle and then whenever you're doing a corner you will chain two. So that is as traditional granny square.
