How to Crochet a Pineapple Part 1/12
Hello my You Tube friends. We have for you today the open lace work. It’s called open work or lace and I don’t usually work with lace too much. I’m really not sure I like the look of lace to be honest and don’t think it’s practical. But you know, I am just me but I have a person on You Tube saying Michael can you please teach me the pineapple stitch and so I’ve looked at some videos and they are just so speed that I’m not able to graph how to do it. And because they are not showing any what it supposed to look like in the beginning is that I am really kind of straggling with how it looked. So actually I found a pattern of it actually in my own archives here home. So I basically taught myself using diagrams and there you go.
This is not overly complicated to be honest with you. I'm not sure if it’s a beginner but you are going to be using some stitches in here. You are going to be using chaining, you are going to use double crochet and triple crochet when doing that. And what is the most important key element and I was thinking about this as I was doing my sample piece here is that there are things that remain consistent. So no matter what you wind and you are working on it, you are always going to do the center point. And you are always going to do the same on the edges. So even though each line is somewhat different, there’s a commonality by the middle of and the edges being the same. So if I wanted to do another pineapple on this side, I just have to continue the patterning across. Now, this is one foot so people are going to ask me how many stitches it takes to make a big blanket or small blanket. Just think that for every two pineapples, its one foot.
I am only going to show you this is actually 30 stitches across and I will show you how to count all down and show you as we go. And I did make mistakes during this testing for myself and so I will be pointing those out as we go in through time. And it looks really distorted when you are doing this thing until you’d start repeating the pattern. In this repeat up here brings the blanket back in shape. Because what happens is it’s until you get to this point of the blanket and it looks like it’s doing a view like this. So don’t let that discourage you either. So this is the pineapple open lace work stitch and we’re going to work line by line like we always do. I'm going to go nice and slow so you could catch on to what’s going on and we will go from there.
