How to Crochet a Diamond Cable Stitch Part 1/9
Working on cables that have a diamond effect and a diamond basically won’t have a pattern that flat but the diamond shapes will be really sticking you don’t like a sort of count and it’s just like our sweater here, you know how you got the cable in your fact and going on just like the front and the same thing will happen here.
Now the patterns when you see them online are extremely intimidated to look at but I want to explain it to you so that you understand it because it’s actually very simple and you have to do double crochet, you’re going to have to do a triple crochet and you’re also going to have to do some picots and picot are called p- i c- o – t. So here we go so we’re going to chain and whatever you do we have to keep it in sets of four. So I don’t care how long you make it but you go four. So you could just go chain is it long enough to know, one, two, three , four.
So when you determine it is long enough you have to add to three stitches to the amiable line. So let’s do that so I get one, two, three, four, five, six, seven eight, nine 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 so keep it in sets of four. So one, two, three, four so it is long enough to know. So that if that was longer enough then what I’ll say this is long enough for me so in your have three stitches or three chains. So one, two, and three, so there is your first one and this is your chain. Your next line across we’re going to be doing single crochet so what we’re going to be doing is going back up, so we’re actually starting this way so we going to go this one.
So we’ve chained all of it and so what you want to do is you want to chain one when you go the next line so chain one then single crochet right into that same hole. So what I’m going to do to just single crochet. So I’m just going to represent it with just an oval shape. So single crochet, and on the 4rth one, we’re going to be doing our first picot and I’ll show you how to do those it is actually pretty simple. So I will have to represent it by attorney.
So now you’re going to look for every three so that’s the pattern here in this particular line as 3. So single crochet and again on the 4th one so that picot again and then again single crochet we’re back on the 4rt and looks do it now if you picot and then single crochet, and so this is your single crochet line.
So now big deal safari because that’s not a big deal. So now what we’re going do is that we’re going to now do double crochet going back over the same line and I will show you how to handle it with picot but again, it is not a big deal. So we going to chain up three which counts moving along and we’re going to be double crocheting all the way across. So double, so we double crochet all the way across. So now what you want to do, so let send that was a double crochet.
So now what you want to do is you want to put back across with the single crochet just like you did here in the orange but there’s a difference this time is that this time we’re going to be looking for a different pattern and this is what you’d like and start is getting in trusting and this line is what you’re going to be doing everytime you get to the section because we start it all somewhere literally you don’t have any lines coming down. Like you see the crisscross, you don’t have anything coming down because it’s flipped. So this is where we started.
So we’re going to single crochet so we represent to with a chain one and then single crochet and the picot represents the center of the diamond because you have a diamond shape and the picot is the center of it. So we can assume that, that is the center when you see the picots those are the center of your diamonds which helps you give a good visualization. Now what is also I notice in the pattern is that the center of the actual picot if you go and look up right there’s any one stitch and then it’s actually make it just going to be two over so I guess let me just start it again is that you’re going to do, so what you’re going to do is that you’re going to just chain one and then this is going to be the center point of your next, you’re going to chain one.
So what you’re going to do is that your first one is a single chain and now you’re going to picot again. So picot and then a single crochet and now we are right over top of the other picot here so these obviously must be the center of the diamond. And so that’s what becomes really critical even though we’re working on a flat right in the bottom right now, so we need to come down. So this one here is that we are going to come down and how do I know where to go. See the center point that we just put above that downing there well that must be the center point of the actually diamond on the below cart.
So what we got to just do is we treble crochet cable wise and we go down and we wrap it around the back, this particular figure is running between the single crochet in the chain. But then we don’t’ finish that off completely because what we need to do is so we need to have the two chains coming together as one and at the very top of that so what we have to do is I have to show you how to do that but then what we need to do is we need to do it again, and see how you get three little just two picots and then three and it’s obviously the one right in the middle and still the one that you want and that is again a triple crochet.
So now you start to see your pattern so we have picot a regular crochet, this triple crochet, now we’re going to be doing a regular single crochet and another picot and then a single crochet and see these picot here is regular. So that obviously must be where we have to go back in order to that actual next diamond.
Do you see what I’m saying so then the very next one should be a single crochet and then another picot and then a single crochet how again we’re right above where the center people is so that must be where we going to wrap that around and when we come down to see right just like so you got just how we just had five in the middle like we have three in the middle of the two. Well we have three in here and this happens to be the picot so that you’re obviously reading the one’s each side the single crochet alone and you’re going right in the middle.
So coming out to the edge so it’s a single and then another picot and then a single, so that was a single crochet.
We’ll be along now to get what we’re going to do is we’re going to double crochet all the way on top of this line again. So we’re going to chain up our brief one, two, three, and now we’re going to double crochet all the way back. So I’m not picoting. I’m doing anything and just double crochet.
So now we’re working back along the line again and this represents what we just did in this right one here we’re going to do exactly again but the difference being this time is that our center points are words coming down and you slightly different because it’s a diamond shape, right.
So we’re obviously working on the edge we’re going to be over here and putting a diamond coming down like so. So what you going to do is just chain up one and then single crochet, so you get a single crochet so the next one here is you see the picot is right there and this is where you attach it into the bottom so this must be the top of the actual diamond. So you got a triple crochet attaching it to where it’s already centered over here and then you got a single crochet and then a picot.
Single crochet and obviously this is right above there and you’re seeing the pattern taking shape so this one here and you must touch the cable to where it’s also attached there as well. Single crochet picot, single crochet and obviously this is the center point again all coming back to one.
So single crochet and then picot, single crochet and then this would be all because it is on the edge where you get condole it to one side and then a single crochet. So there you have, you’re having your pattern so the very next one above this above this again will be the double crochet here at one, two and three and then double crochet all the way back across again.
So you only really see just on the very start when you starting your pattern against a little complicated and it actually gets much easier and it’s only a double crochet and then every other line is the same as far as the technique that you have to use. The only difference is where you’re starting your done in shapes so in this for example we did our triple crochet here but in the next one we’re not going to be doing it there so let’s do the last line it’s for inner line so we’re going to chain up one and you got your single crochet so your next one then, this here is your top of that one so that’s obviously where the center point has to come back down, right so your next one then will be a picot, single crochet and then here will attaching it and then a single and then a picot and then this is the top of the center point. So you have to attach it.
Then a single and then anther picot, single and then this obviously the top again so you really start in here the understanding of your pattern, single and then a picot and then a single. So hopefully that explains as you have probably do that and we’ll do a demonstration of that to all.
