Laura Roeder: Hi I'm Laura Roeder and I am going to tell you how to automate your Tweets. So people complain about how much time Twitter takes and how much time social media takes and I understand it can be time consuming. But there are some things you can do that can make it a lot easier and one of those things is automating your tweets or planning your tweets ahead of time I really like to just do the latter, planning tweets, writing tweets are hardest one.
My favorite tool for doing this is a site called hootsuite.com, it's got kind of a weird name, it's hoot suite as an hotel suite so it's hootsuite.com, that's hootsuite.com. And HootSuite is a great totally free site that allows you to write in tweet and schedule them for years to come if you want to. It also allows you to send out those messages to LinkedIn and Facebook and Facebook fan pages which is really cool. So you have to be kind of careful with Twitter automation and Twitter schedule messages.
You don't want all of your messages to be schedule because the nature of Twitter is that it's really beneficial for a conversation that's really most of what happens on Twitter and of course if you are scheduling everything ahead of time you are not really having conversations with people. But if there are certain things that you want to talk about like quotes or linked to blog posts or special promotions that you have or if you just want to make sure to tweet every few days or every week or whatever it is and you just want to make sure that you have something they are updated with, scheduling tweets ahead of time can be a really good way to go.
So maybe you want to make sure that your Twitter is updated at least once a week just so that you have something on there. You could go and write tweets that will go out every week, you could write 50 tweets and queue them up for the whole year, you might be want to able to sneak in look at that at different times and different days that they seem real, it's a good way to go. But again HootSuite is my favorite website for scheduling tweets; you don't have to be on there real time all the time but you do want to check in for conversations. Twitter is going to be kind of useless if you only schedule. But it's really good thing to add to your Twitter mix.
