One way to create a rounded rectangle in Adobe Fireworks is to use the rectangle tool from the toolbox and then go up, drag out your rectangle, release it and then over in the properties you have a section called rectangle roundness, the higher you set this number, the more rounded the corners are going to be. So Fireworks just set it to 30 then it will round the rectangles on and if I go even higher, it will round it even more and then of course I can also set it where it rounds the corners just a little bit.

Now, I could also go and I could use the rounded rectangle tool to draw a rectangle and then after I draw on that, I can use these corner markers to drag in or to drag out and that makes the corners either more rounded or less rounded depending on how I have those set.
