You can create a theme completely from scratch but it is often easiest to choose one that has elements similar to what you want and then tweak them. So, to get started, we will open a new blank presentation and apply the module of theme. Click the office button, click New, choose Blank Presentation and create. To apply the modular theme, hover until you find module and then click.
Now, let us choose a color scheme that has at least some of the colors that we already need. The metro color scheme actually has a lot of the colors that we want. There is a green, a red, a yellow and a blue. I will click to apply this. Now, this green is a little bit bright from my taste so let us tweak the colors a bit. Click colors and at the bottom, click Create New Theme Colors. The colors that show in this dialogue are actually the colors from the metro color scheme. As you can see we have that green, that pink, that yellow and that blue. We also have, you will notice a TextBackground Dark 1, TextBackground Light 1, Dark 2 and Light 2 right up here.
These dark light combinations make it easier to switch from a dark background with light text to a light background with dark text and still have all of your text actually be visible on your slides. All the Accent colors are designed to work on either a light or dark background and finally, this Hyperlink and Followed Hyperlink colors down here at the bottom will not actually show up and then have the various color pick or galleries. In that way you are not intended to use those use colors for other items.
Now, we are going to change the colors that came with the metro theme. To do so, just click on the color, choose More Colors and then input the RGB values you prefer to use. We are going to type in 107, hit Tab, 183, hit Tab, 109, because that is a little darker green. We can click OK to apply it. For Accent 2, we will click here and select red, type in 198, Tab, 72, Tab, 71, press Enter to apply these changes. For Accent 3, 240, 173, 0, press Enter, Accent 4, 96, 181, 204, Accent 5, 232, 134, 81, press Enter and Accent 6, 230, 108, 125. Now, rename this color scheme with a new name and click Save. You can see that the green is not quite so bright for the title and when you click on the Colors gallery, you will see that our colors have been applied to this presentation.
