Peggy Ioakim: Hi! I am Peggy Ioakim with Erwin the Gomez Salon & Spa located in the heart of George Town in Washington DC. Today I am going to show you a few simple techniques on how to cover gray and brighten up your natural hair color. I am going to show you everything from sectioning the hair, coloring the hair, applying hair color and shampooing the hair.

To get started there are a few things you may need. Two latex gloves, to protect your hands from color an old towel to protect your clothing, a Vaseline like cream to protect your hands from staining, a bowl to hold the color contents and a highlighting brush to dispense the color on to your hair. When you are doing the hair color, you want to also, make sure, to read the directions and do a patch test. In the box of color, that you will purchase there will be a directions -- a piece of paper or directions in the box.

Just follow the instructions and make sure, you are not allergic to the color. If you by chance get color in your eye, the way to neutralize the color in your eye is to wash it out with water. But again, please read your directions, because each box might have different instructions.
