How to Clean an Area Rug
Host: All right, clean house fans; here is a helpful tip from Yard Sale Diva Trish Suhr. Trisha?
Trisha: Yes?
Host: Will you have to get down to the business of cleaning a large area rug. Is it the same or different than when you have to clean a regular carpet?
Trisha: I’m glad you asked that. It’s different from carpet rug, you can get to both sides up. The easiest way to clean a rug is actually vacuuming both sides. Start with the back side because everything gets really trapped into the fibers. Then flip it all over, vacuum it again. Now, there are two ways to handle it. You can either spot clean it with a very light fabric treatment, so you can just try it in the corner first, see how it does. If not, use baking soda. Baking soda is natural and will actually pick up all the smells out of it and lift all the extra—out of about that rug. Fast and easy, you don’t pay all that money to go out and get it cleaned.
Host: If you don’t have your nails done, can you come with me to help me do mine?
