Clean the tank. Don’t use any chemicals ever on the inside or outside of your tank. Just a paper towel and some water will usually be fine. If you are hanging a life picture from the ceiling, do that next. There are not many readymade hangers for your big lights but this bicycle hangar that we bought will hold up our light box nicely.
If your tank is in a close space, make sure to have ventilating fans. Being able to raise and lower the light allows you more control of the lighting in your tank. The closer the source, the brighter and hotter it will be in the tank. If you make your own light box, make sure that there are fans to help move the hot air away from the top of the tank itself.
This metal haloids can be mounted in a box or on a pole above the tank. If you are mounting the lights onto the fish tank itself, do that after you have put in the live rock. Cover some area with a waterproof material. If you can, make a base that will catch the water and have it drain if possible. Trust me you, you’ll thank me later for this.
The Reef Aquarium DVD is an independent video production on how to budget, what to buy, how to install, how to maintain and how to service your marine reef aquarium.
