When you start yo-yoing you want to make sure that you have proper yoyo for the type of tricks you are performing. There are two basic types of yoyos, fixed axle and transaxle. A fixed is an axle that stays stationary when the yoyo is thrown. These yoyos are generally best for looping, but they don't sleep very long. A better yoyo for beginners is a transaxle yoyo. A transaxle is a ring that goes around the center axle of the yoyo. This allows the yoyo to sleep much longer. The best types of transaxle yoyos have a ball bearing in the center; this give the yoyo a much longer sleep time which makes performing simple tricks much easier. Some ball bearing yoyos can sleep for over a minute.
