Changing your cabinet hardware is one of the quickest and easiest ways to give your cabinets a makeover. I am Meagan Carter and this is AsktheDecorator.
If you are tired of the way your kitchen cabinets or bathroom cabinets look and you almost spend a fortune buying all new cabinets, then you should consider changing your cabinet hardware which is basically the cabinet knobs and cabinet poles on your existing cabinets.
Putting your cabinet hardware on is easy and takes very little time. You would be surprised at how many different styles of cabinet poles and knobs are available. Your kitchen or bathroom cabinets will look very different depending on which style cabinet hardware you choose. It is truly amazing what a difference the cabinet hardware can make.
When it comes to picking a new cabinet hardware, to need to take into consideration the type of cabinet hardware you already have. You can see that the cabinet hardware on this kitchen cabinet is very vague. When I take the cabinet hardware off, there are three little holes. If I do not take cabinet hardware that is big enough to cover those holes, you will see them. That really is not a problem if you are planning on painting your cabinets. Well, stain cabinets such as this, covering those holes can be a bit tricky but it is possible if you have fallen in love with cabinet hardware smaller than what you currently have. All you need to do is fill those holes with wood paddy that matches the color of the cabinets. To fill the holes with wood paddy, first, clean the surface and dry it. Then mix different colors of the wood paddy together until it matches the color of your cabinets. Fill the holes, then wipe the excess of with a damp cloth. The wood paddy will have a duller finish than the wood, but if you get a color very close to the finish of your cabinets, it will not be overly noticeable. If you do not like the look of wood paddy, then you will need to get new cabinet hardware that is as big or bigger than your old cabinet hardware. Because the cabinet hardware in this cabinet was so big, I have decided to do new cabinet hardware that has a back plate. The back plate is big enough to cover the three holes left by the old cabinet hardware, which means there is no need for wood paddy. The end result is seem less.
