When you first create a new layer in Photoshop, you are able to set the opacity for that layer. If you have an existing layer, you can also change the opacity of that layer after you’ve created it.
So what you need to do to do this is to go ahead and click the layer that you want to change the opacity of. In my document, I want to change the opacity of my title Honey Hill Farms. So I’m going to go ahead and click on that layer to select it. And then up at the top of my layers palette, I have the opacity. Now I can go ahead and I could type in a new percentage here or I can click the arrow beside it and I can use the slider. And as you can see, the lower the percentage of opacity that I choose, the lighter my title is going to be. So this is a really quick way that I could change the opacity of an existing layer.
