Joe Stewart: Hi! I’m Joe Stewart and I’m the resident pumpkin carving artist here at Mr. Bones Pumpkin Patch in West Hollywood. And I’m here to bring you your Halloween style secret. Pumpkin carving 101, first thing you are gong to do is cut into it. I prefer cutting into the bottom of them, when you cut the pumpkin from the top it let you start drying out, if you have the candle on the inside the load could actually fall in and start to fire. So you take your pairing knife and you can just insert it there and left off the bottom and that’s when you doing your scraper action and you’re ready to actually design what you want to do on the face. You can do a traditional design or you can do something lot more interesting or you can spray paint it. Moving on the something a little bit more complex, we have the traditional design that’s actually been edge out. After I lay down the pattern on here I edge that with the tool and remember there are no rules to carving a pumpkin other than having fun. And that’s your Halloween style secret.
