Hi, I’m Veronica and you WatchMojo.com and today were going to look at a quick and easy way to keep your gardening tools working like new. To keep your tools well oiled and rust free, you’ll need one bucket, half a gallon of cooking oil and some sand.
Fill the bucket with enough coarse sand to cover the metal part of your tool. Pour the oil evenly over the sand and allow it to sift through. Mix thoroughly set the spade in the bucket of sand covering the blade all the way to where the handle began. Continue to move the shovel up and down in the coarse sand.
The sand will help to sharpen the digging and the oil will help keep your tools from rusting. The coarseness of the sand acts like sand paper and it will keep debris out of your tools, the oil will keep water from damaging the metal, and it’ll have your mechanisms working well. This is a great way to keep your tools protected and organized and by using cooking oil, you’re helping out the environment.
