Amy Matthews: Custom cabinets are a beautiful addition to any kitchen, and they can be difficult to build too. So here are a few tip from the crews to show you how it's done right.
First, measurements are taken for the layout of the new cabinets. Plywood is cut to be the exact size of the appliances and used for a template. Next, the shell of each cabinet is build. Doors are cut to size, and a tabletop router provides the decorative detail. Then each cabinet is screwed in place. It's important to drill into studs for a secured fit. Finally the perfect hardware is picked out to pop off your new cabinets.
Amy Matthews: If you've got the skillset and the tools, building custom cabinets can save you tens of thousands of dollars. I am Amy Matthews from DIY network, sweat equity.
