How to Brighten Up Your Rooms
Audra: Alright now we got the perfect past a for spring so it’s time to change your betting for the spring. Master Designer Jennifer Adams stopped by earlier. She gave me a little lesson in brightening up the colors for the bedroom in the spring as we go between seats.
Jen, I’m so happy we’re finally talking about spring. Winter’s gone and now we can actually bring some color into the house right?
Jennifer: Yes, it’s so much fantasy all the vibrant tones coming in we’re seeing like the cool tranquil tones of the ocean like the turquoise colors, the warm tomato oranges and combined with neutral palettes like champagne pink. It’s considered a neutral right now.
Audra: Wow.
Jennifer: And beige, so if you pick some of those vibrant tones also think like the meringue colors like the crisp apple greens and the nice vibrant pinks and pattern them with those more neutral tones.
Audra: Right.
Jennifer: And just use some accents and makes her a nice home.
Audra: I love the way you describe it here that so just that people know this is not a fad, this is not something that’s going on and going to last a year 2 years right because this is actually paint a little more permanent in your home right.
Jennifer: That’s why we would keep the neutral tones for the paint and then accent with the vibrant tones. Just when throw pillows and make your artwork and just transition for spring and transition back out for a fall but your walls just saved very neutral and warm.
Audra: And what’s going on with the scents are changing in the spring too right?
Jennifer: In the spring get rid of all the cinnamon, all the strong vanillas, all the Holiday. Candles you have to get them out of the house because your scent really sets the tone for the feeling of your home. I found this wonderful stuff called lamp reggae and I found it in Paris and it’s the most amazing scents and I really care for scents because I don’t want to get a headache and I’m really sensitive to them but this actually cleanses and purifies the air and you can find it anywhere and it’s just they come with all different kinds of colorful bright canisters or clear glass jars and you pull the oil in it and you light it up and it gives a wonderful spring scent to your house.
Audra: That’s good and also you have to bring the outside in, it’s very tough for some people to do that but we’re looking at a photo here and this like an atrium a patio area but this is actually inside the house right?
Jennifer: It is inside the house so bring in photos of flowers, photos of leaves. Different textures of the flowers of your pillows. They even painted the rug down with a floral down there and the size of the rag is something very inexpensive, bring in the flowers, bring in objects that you would normally see out in your garden and use them like little earns for night stands, end tables. Just bring in those things from the outside and bring it in for the spring.
Audra: It changes your mood so much just walking into a room that looks like that and then last but not least you have to bring some fun, playfulness to the rooms.
Jennifer: Make it fun, light hearted, playful and just do it in your accessories but think bright cheery, things that are going to make you happy when you walk in the door. It’s different from what you’re going to do in the fall. It’s different for what you’ve been doing in the winter just have fun with it.
Audra: Don’t worry about being to stiff and just keeping things away that they were before right? Okay, you got it, thanks Jen.
Jennifer: Thank you.
