Liz: No one is going to say anyone in Mumbai has it easy by any stretch of the imagination. But I have to say, I’m a little jealous. A modern woman in Mumbai in a way has more options than most women. They are free to go out and look for a love marriage but after a certain age they decide to need some back up, they can call in the troops. They have the safety net of their family and their culture.
Do you think it’s okay in this society in your belief system to never get married?
Arya: Those who never get married?
Liz: What do you think of those people?
Arya: It is their sweet will.
Liz: It’s their sweet will?
Arya: Yeah. It depends upon them whether they want to marry or not.
Liz: Some women are choosing to go back to tradition. Some are moving forward but either way the choice is now theirs.
So Arty you have daughters?
Arty: Yes.
Liz: So you want to find them husbands or do you want them to go off and find it to themselves?
Arty: No. I want them to find their husbands on their own.
Liz: You do?
Arty: Yes.
Liz: But it work out so well for you too. For you both you want to do it themselves?
Arty: Yes.
Female: I wouldn’t say you have to get married and I like that very clear to my children.
Male: It depends on them only, I can’t say anything.
Female: What has happen now is times have changed not like in our time.
Liz: You’re daughters you would advise them not to marry somebody they do not love? That you would say.
Arya: Love the basic condition.
Liz: You have to have love. If I came to you at my age which is over 40.
Arya: Right.
Liz: And I said okay I’m a little late, I’m sorry. Could you find somebody for me in my age?
Arya: Definitely.
Liz: Yes, and it will be pile of widowers and.
Arya: And you are most welcome to join us, we will definitely entertain you.
Liz: Okay.
Arya: Life is very precious. Each and every moment of life is very precious and we should not spoil our life. We should enjoy life.
Liz: Enjoy our life.
Arya: This is also a kind of enjoyment to be with somebody not only sexually, but mentally, spiritually for everything. So you are most welcome at this age also if you get married and I’ll be the first person to clap for that.
Liz: At the end of the day, no one can tell you which path will lead you to true love. You can marry someone you’ve only spoken to for 20 minutes or you can marry someone you’ve dated for two years. You can get your family involved or go it alone or you can decide to never marry at all. It’s your choice nut my opinion when it comes to finding true love the more pubs the better.
