Bathing a Poodle
To shampoo. Use a gentle dog shampoo as poodles are washed more often than other breeds. A good cream rinse is invaluable. Secure the dog in the tub as seems little chain here. Adjust the water to a comfortable heat level and wet the dog's coat. You will notice that it takes a bit to get the coat wet to the skin.
Remember, the poodle was created to be a water-retriever and their coat is designed to repel water.
Start with the face and head working your way down over the body. Be careful to wash the ears, but do not get water in the ear. At throughly wetting the dog apply the shampoo along its back. Gently massage into the coat. Care is needed so that we do not create too many tangles. You can move quickly but just don't mad it up more. Always go with the lay of the hair, not against it.
When your dog is all washed, start rinsing from the head working your way down the body. Don't forget underneath. Make sure you get out all the soap. When the water runs clear, it's time to add the cream rinse to the outside of the ears top of the head, down its back, to the legs and tail. Run water over to rinse the cream rinse. This helps keep the snarls, mats and tangles to a minimum.
