Melanie Sanders: Literally millions of Canadians are flocking to one of the countries hottest new hobbies “Bird Feeding.” And while bird feeding is something everyone can do a few tips will help you attract Canada’s most popular wild species and entice them to stay for more than a quick lunch. Kathy Russell is the bird food experts at Scotts Canada.
Kathy Russell: The way to a bird’s heart is through its stomach. By varying the types of seeds in your feeder, you can attract the whole variety of birds. Such as blue jays, cardinals, Finches, and even morning doves by offering such seed as peanuts, sunflower, Milo-millet this birds will come on a regular basis and enjoy the feeder year around.
Melanie Sanders: And to ensure a tasty and nutritious product Scotts Canada has teamed up with the Toronto Zoo to create a new line of birdseed. Michelle Shaw is a Nutritionist with the Toronto Zoo.
Michelle Shaw: This is the first collaboration of its kind that we have had with another company and the Toronto Zoo is very pleased to be able to work with Scott’s and to use our nutrition expertise to create a product that we are proud of. And together we have created a birdseed mix that will attract the Canadian birds to your backyard and actually be a very good supplement to their natural diet.
