Hi! I am Dave Epstein. This is Growing Wisdom and I want to show you a couple of things in the very front of my house today. And one of them that I really would like to share with you is this great sorrel plant, it is a leafy vegetable really and you can use it for cooking in some great recipes with it. But I love this particular variety of sorrel because it has this wonderful purple margin. And the purple margin is just fantastic to really bring out the other elements in the front of my garden that have that great purple color to them.
For example the heuchera, with this great deep purple color and also I have hens and chicks, very close next to that which also has the purple color to it as well. I even have these tiny little violas which have popped up. They have receded themselves and I just left them there because I think they look rather nice. And then of course we have purple gem rhododendron behind the sorrel, that is about to bloom. So, all of this creates a nice harmonious look by threading together that purple color throughout this one particular are of the garden.
And that is one of the things that you can do in your garden is to think about one particular color and thread that through all your different plants and bring it in, in different elements. For me it is purple, for you it might be yellow or orange, whatever it is, it does not matter. It is just something that you like.
