You can add a color overlay to text to change the color of the text while keeping the highlights and the shadows the same color as the original text.
So to do so, go ahead and double click on the layer that you want to add the color overlay to. And you get the layer style dialog box. Go ahead and move it down so we can see our text. And let’s go ahead and click on color overlay and first of all, we want to choose the color that we want to use to overlay it. Let’s go ahead and choose something completely different, we’ll choose a blue. And we can choose a blend mode, go ahead and do a soft light and the opacity is at a 100%. You can go ahead and lower it to make that blue layer lighter and you could see we get a really interesting color as we do this and especially with the blend mode added and we could change that to something different. It really gives our text a really new look using just that simple color overlay.
