House Republicans aren’t giving the health care law debate a breather. Instead, the approach seems to be: If you don’t at first succeed try... try more than 30 times. The latest GOP attempt has the bill in front of the House. It’s being debated in a number of committee hearings. HLN explains.

“...the Supreme Court upheld the law last month but House Republicans are still trying to get rid of it. The House is debating the measure today but even if they pass the repeal tomorrow, the Senate probably will not, and President Obama has promised to veto it.”

The bill will come before the Republican-led House Wednesday, but it has little chance beyond the GOP-controlled chamber. CNN calls Republicans’ latest efforts an “all-out assault” and notes this is more than the 30th time Republicans have pushed repeal.

Naturally, the cable networks have different takes on Republicans’ persistence. A Fox News anchor focuses on the House’s success in passing repeals and on states’ objections to the law.

“...the House has voted 30 times to defund, dismantle and even repeal this law... It was upheld by the Supreme Court, just last month... More than 25 states brought a lawsuit questioning the law's constitutionality.”

Whereas an anchor for MSNBC sees this is a GOP attempt to put Democrats on the record in support of this law, now that the supreme court has classified the individual mandate a tax.

“...they want to be able to press Democrats on that point and they want to be able to demonstrate to their own constituents that they again voted against this law, making the tax issue front and center.”

Meanwhile, Democrats have not shied from showing frustration with the repeated attempts in committee meetings. For example, here’s New Jersey Democrat Frank Pallone Jr. -- who hearkened to Bill Murray and his ever-repeatable 1993 classic.  

“It is like Groundhog Day around here. I am tired of it and I am tired of it, and I think the American people are tired of it. … They were talking about the economy and want us to focus on the economy, creating jobs.”

So what is the GOP aiming for? RealClearPolitics argues it’s about firing up the base in an election year.

“Although the GOP has the votes to repeal the Affordable Care Act, the exercise is purely symbolic. With the Senate in Democrats’ hands, this vote will not roll back the law. House Republicans are staging what is known as a ‘messaging vote’ to drum up more support for their cause. … Dismantling Obamacare would require Republicans to maintain control of the House, gain a majority in the Senate and replace President Obama.”

Mitt Romney has promised to repeal the law if elected.
