Hot Topic with Jennifer Walsh
Audra Lowe: Alright everybody, it is time for hot topics. We got Jennifer Walsh here our beauty expert and today were going to talk beauty and we are also going to talk some, “oh no, you didn’t” in this next segment
Jennifer Walsh: And we are only — we do
Audra Lowe: Yeah, we have to. You have to make it fun, right?
Jennifer Walsh: Yeah, absolutely.
Audra Lowe: So the beauty is going to come second. First I got to ask you about this guy. I didn’t know if you’ve heard about this man in Florida who apparently was—they said he’s too fat for jail. He was a food scammer, 600 pounds and he was arrested for scamming restaurants and for food. But he cannot go to jail because the state says he is going to cost—he’s too heavy and it’s going to cost much money.
He is 38 years old and apparently he scams from restaurants by ordering food and then complaining about the quality of and refusing to pay for it. He went to 7-11, ate nearly $50.00 worth of beef jerky and then left because he said—
Jennifer Walsh: He didn’t feel them
Audra Lowe: And I'm not man, it’s moldy. Yeah, he said it is moldy.
Jennifer Walsh: And then he weighed how many pounds or how much is that?
Audra Lowe: Yeah, $50.00 worth, which is a lot for the 7-11.
Jennifer Walsh: You think okay, it is take a lot of time to eat all that beef jerky and then figure out, “man, my stomach hurts a lot.”
Audra Lowe: You know that’s a scam. And then he didn’t stop there. He actually went—he drank five milkshakes at a restaurant and then said the milk was off.
Jennifer Walsh: After five milkshakes.
Audra Lowe: Yes, so the police arrested him.
Jennifer Walsh: One sip but—
Audra Lowe: Yeah, you would think so but not this guy here. He now—he’s apparently bed ridden he lives in a nursing home and they offered him plea deal and—
Jennifer Walsh: Did they really?
Audra Lowe: Yeah, they offered him a plea deal he played no contest to five counts of felony, petty theft but here is his photo here. And the state said that the reason that they did that is because they would have to foot the cost of his medical bills.
Jennifer Walsh: His medical bills, you are right because his just so big.
Audra Lowe: Exactly.
Jennifer Walsh: for you to take care of someone that size and that kind of, oh my gosh.
Audra Lowe: Yeah, he needs a respirator to breath. Obviously he was healthy enough to make it to all these restaurants.
Jennifer Walsh: I was going to say, how did he get up so much and he just kind of shows up and then they are like, “oh here he comes, he is just going to eat us up and then complain about at nothing.
Audra Lowe: Yeah, it is a very interesting situation there but totally, totally, totally, different situation here though. I found this article in Shop Smart magazine and they are talking about bad beauty deals. And you know a lot of people are gullible because they see these products that are pure—
Jennifer Walsh: Sure. Absolutely. Talk about image.
Audra Lowe: Yeah, but I want to know what you think the last growers apparently they talked to a lot of dermatologists and chemists and they said that there is absolutely no product out there that will grow up your lashes period. Is that true?
Jennifer Walsh: And you know what? It really has to be scientific and there are some products that well—the ingredients have to be just right and they have to be FDA approved, they have to be okay with your ophthalmologist and everything has to be okay. But there are a lot of—there is a lot of hype out there for products that you think it is almost like a placebo, you think “Oh I see it working, I see it working.” So you really have to—
Audra Lowe: And side effects too, right?
Jennifer Walsh: Absolutely, they might change the color of your eyes, I mean there is so many little—you see you actually hear on the TV station in the commercial or saying things could happen to your eyes if you are really careful.
Audra Lowe: And apparently, if it did work, they said it would have to be classified as a drug.
Jennifer Walsh: Absolutely, absolutely.
Audra Lowe: Yes and then with lip plumpers they are also saying that it is better for you to just try make up tricks that none of those lip plumpers out there really work.
Jennifer Walsh: Work and some them could be temporary. So of them say—oh they will claim, it could be eight hours of limp clumping but I really think it has to be a temporary thing where they can at certain ingredients can actually almost make your lips swell momentarily. It is not going to be a long lasting ingredient again but some things can but you have to make sure you know what you are looking for.
Audra Lowe: Yeah, yeah.
Jennifer Walsh: Than saying oh, you have to believe all the hype that there are— there are a few things that will do a very short period of time.
Audra Lowe: Some will knock you out. That’s about the only time I know—
Jennifer Walsh: I know exactly—
Audra Lowe: Lip plumpers are going to actually work.
Jennifer Walsh: how can that happen? But you know, very minute and then again if you are feeling like it is working, then that is your thing. That is fine.
Audra Lowe: And there is a lot products that they have in here too is practically shocking too. So it’s good to get your—
Jennifer Walsh: Yeah, you really have to do your homework.
Audra Lowe: Yeah, all right. Thank you so much, Jen. Good to have you back. Stay out of restaurants.
