Home Décor: Foyer Tips - as part of the home design series by GeoBeats.
The foyer is the first thing that your guests will see, and that you see when you walk into your home. Whether it is a separate area or just a small two foot wall space by your front door, it is often an area that is under-utilized. One of the first accessories I recommend for a foyer is a tray, or some place to put all of your keys, your wallet, anything you may want to put down as soon as you get home. For that purpose a simple tray works perfectly. You could also use a woven basket, or just a tray that you have laying around the house. Another great accessory to have in the foyer is a mirror. It is perfect because you can check your teeth before you leave the house, make sure there is nothing in there, and it also visually opens up the space.
Another excellent way to accessorize for any space is to group your accessories by either a motif or a theme. For example here we have some birds and candles and also bringing in a touch of Christmas decoration with the ornaments in a mason jar. The foyer is also a great space to bring in any holiday decorations. So for example on Halloween you could have some pumpkins with a jack o'lantern, or for Christmas or any other holiday where they have theme colored candy. It is a great way to bring in a little bit of color, celebrate the holiday and satisfy your sweet tooth. And as always, fresh flowers and candles are a great way to bring some natural ambiance into your home. Those are just as few simple ideas on how to decorate your foyer. The most important thing to remember is that you want to create a welcoming environment for you and your guests.
