Shock and awe for the markets. New Bank of Japan governor Haruhiko Kuroda making a stunning debut with the most radical monetary easing push in modern history. His pledge to inject some $1.4 trillion into the economy in under two years means Japan's central bank is set to surpass even the U.S. Federal Reserve in terms of proportional spending. Kuroda's performance has been applauded by investors, with stocks jumping and the yen diving to over three-year lows against the dollar. But how do the experts feel? We asked veteran market-watchers to grade Kuroda's big debut. Here's his report card. (SOUNDBITE) (English) CHIEF JAPAN ECONOMIST, RBS SECURITIES, JUNKO NISHIOKA, SAYING: "Mr. Kuroda's decision provided more than expected. And it's a full response to the market expectation. Actually the main thing that the BOJ tried to do is to unveil everything that the BOJ can do at this moment. For example, expansion of the assets of the BOJ and expansion of liability of the BOJ. So the main purpose is to show their strong commitment to affect the financial market." Takuji Okubo, chief economist at Japan Macro Advisors, gives Kuroda an A+, praising him for committing clearly in the central bank's policy statement to achieving its 2 percent inflation target in 2 years. (SOUNDBITE) (English) CHIEF ASIA PACIFIC STRATEGIST, JPMORGAN, TAI HUI, SAYING: "I think I will give him a B+, because he's pretty much set out to do what he said to do. So in that sense, a lot of the announcement yesterday, that should not come as a huge surprise given how he's prepped the market during his comments in parliament as well as comments in the past few weeks. Overall, he's pretty much delivered what the market has been looking out for." So far so good. But not everyone's giving Kuroda top marks. There are concerns this wave of cash could create asset bubbles in Japan and globally. He's already moved to downplay those fears. But it remains to be seen how long Kuroda can remain at the top of the class, especially since he's set expectations so high. ENDS
