Here’s a really neat mother’s day gift that will brighten moms day and also help unclutter your kitchen. Use a one of a kind glass container and make a beautiful candle. Begin with an orphan wine glass, champagne glass, or sugar container and give it a whole new life. Try to find a container to heat in that has a pouring style. Set your stove to a low setting. Take wax specifically made for candles and cut it in chunks. Heat the wax to 180 degrees checking with a thermometer. When you reach 180 degrees, add a color chip. This one will make a crème colored candle. Stir lightly with a wooden spoon. And then lower the heat to 175 degrees. Now if you desire, place once or more scent chips into the wax for a special aroma. Now prepare to pour your wax into a container. We’re using an old glass goblet. It’s best to use a wire wick because they have a metal disc at the bottom to help it stand up straight. Place 2 wooden dowels on either side of the wick to support it while pouring wax. You can also use pencils or chopsticks. Hold the sticks together and carefully pour the wax into your container. If your wick falls simply move it back into place. The candle wax will take anywhere from several hours to overnight to set up. After the wax is completely set up, all that’s left is trimming the wick. Clip it down to about ¼ of an inch tall. Now you have a wonderful custom made candle that will light up your mother’s special day. And remember, you can get all the printable instructions right here.
