Hi! Everybody I am Melanie Raposo, welcome to Mommy's Minute. It's that time of the year, again when all the little ghosts and goblins come out to trick or treat. And with all the excitement of getting dressed up and getting candy your little ones sometimes forget some important Halloween safety rules. So here are some tips on how to keep your kids safe during this fun time.
First, when choosing a costume, look for bright fabrics, that way drivers can see your child at all times. Also make sure the costume is flame resistant, and to prevent falling avoid costumes that go past your child's ankles. Try to use face paint if possible over masks. Masks can block your child's ability to see.
Also make sure your child is supervised by an adult at all times, making sure to stay in well lit areas and only visit homes that have their lights on.
Before your children eat their candy, make sure to inspect it. Throw out any candies that don't have wrappers or the candies that have wrappers with holes in them. To make your home, trick or treat safe, make sure to get rid of any objects outside of the house that could cause children to trip or fall.
Remember these safety tips and you and your child will have a very safe and happy Halloween.
