Jessica Alba, Megan Fox, Ed Helms and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association president announced the nominees for the 2013 Golden Globes Thursday morning. “Best director motion picture, Ben Affleck, ‘Argo.’ Catherine Bigelow, ‘Zero Dark Thirty.’ Ang Lee, ‘Life of Pi.’" Steven Spielberg’s “Lincoln” led the way with seven nominations... followed by “Argo,” “Django Unchained” and “Les Miserables.” CNN reports: “Best motion picture drama, because they come in two categories, drama and comedy, Argo is nominated, Django Unchained, Life of Pi...” All of the directors nominated for best motion picture drama are nominated for best director as well. There is a wide range of nominations for best picture and best director but Celebuzz reports, some other interesting competition is brewing. “...perhaps the most interesting category was Best Original Song, which will see uber-stars Taylor Swift and Adele face off against each other for the coveted prize. Over on the television side, it was a mix of old faces and new, as the Hollywood Foreign Press welcomed back shows like 30 Rock , Parks and Recreation and Downton Abbey ” Celebuzz goes on to say, a few new faces popped up in the nominations as well- Homeland which swept the Emmy’s in September and HBO comedy Girls. The New York Times has a rundown of the snubs. “‘Beasts of the Southern Wild’ was ignored completely. ‘Flight’ picked up a nomination for Denzel Washington, but failed to get attention for picture and directing. Keira Knightley’s awards road for ‘Anna Karenina’ likely ends … And the nominee list included no hobbits.” Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will host the awards show, which is scheduled for January 13.
