How to Decorate Walls with Art

KELLY EDWARDS: Hi. I’m Kelly Edwards. Now, hanging art on a wall seems like a simple task, but so many people do it the wrong way. So I’m going to show you how to take hanging art to a whole new level in my next GMC Trade Secret.
Now, size and color are two main things to consider when trying to find artwork that fits into your space. Art that’s too large may overwhelm your room, while art that’s too small can get lost. So if you want to make art the center of attraction in your room, try playing down the other elements of your room, like your window treatments, your carpeting, even your furniture. A room crowded with all these different colors, textures, fabrics, can really take the spotlight away from your art.
So I want to give you a couple of examples of things you can actually do on your wall. So here I have three black frames, and I took three black and white photos and put them inside the frames, which kind of unifies everything together in a black and white theme.
Over here I have these two frames. Now, you can get as many as you want, but I just picked two, spray painted them cream, and then I added this piece of fabric to the inside. So not only are they all unified, but it also adds that unexpected element of using fabric.
And behind me, this art piece I have here is actually seven different frames, but put together, it creates one gigantic piece of art. It’s actually a wall mural that’s about the length of this wall, but I just cut it into each of these pieces. So that’s it.
Now, this is great art work that can not only put your entire room together, but you can really get creative and certainly make it your own.
I’m Kelly Edwards, and this is my GMC Trade Secret.
