Female: Do both of us have to be present to get a marriage license?
Rev. Bill Cochran: I am sorry to say this, it depends on where you are getting married and that's why it's important for you to know the laws. Some do require, some states and jurisdiction require that both of you need to come to apply. Others will take just one of you. If one of you has been divorced they would want a copy of the divorce declaration. If there are different extenuating circumstances they would want to know what those are and so it's just wise to check in and ask that question of your state that you are getting married in.
