Funji home is the first step in my eyes to having a second life or other alternate reality app on the iPhone. The app gives users the chance to build an avatar and create their own personal space that can be decorated with all kinds of patterns and objects to express their own unique taste. Once creating an account, the user can then begin decorating their space with all kinds of goodies or browsing the many spaces already created by other users. While this idea is a wonderful one in concept, the app really struggles to pull it off. The interface is very complicated, not in the sense that anything was hard to find, but that nothing seemed to be very thought out. Placing and moving objects are a hassle as your finger will get in the way of building anything intricate. The avatar selection is very small and makes it hard to make a unique avatar that actually looks somewhat decent. I did find that the app itself froze up when I tried to write a message on someone's wall. The app gives an option for chatting right inside but it was hard to find anyone that was actually using it in the first place. This came as no surprise. There was the ability to invite friends to the app and save a quick link to their home, but after taking a more in depth look at what this app has to offer, I'd rather spare them the spam mail. This app started with a great idea and really had me interested, but the presentation and execution really don't add up. At the time of this review, the app was free in the app store. So if still is for you, check and out and give it a try, but go into it not expecting much. This has been Erik with AppVee.com, your definitive source for iPhone application reviews.
