A police officer in Russia, along with his wife, both died in quite unusual circumstances recently. While fixing the sewer system in his home, he created a hole in a cesspool 4 meters deep and then suffocated from the overwhelming fumes.

This happened in the country's Saratov region.

The wife tried to take him out, but she too was taken aback by the fumes and descended into the hole and reportedly drowned in the fecal matter.

Another unusual double death incident involved brothers Homer and Langley Collyer. The pair was known in New York as hoarders, living together and keeping to themselves, even adding booby traps for anyone attempting to enter the home. Police visited the house, after neighbors complained of bad odors to discover Homer had starved to death and Langley had been killed by one of his own homemade, intruder traps.
