(Image source: NBC/LAPD)   BY ELIZABETH HAGEDORN   Bizarre new details have emerged as the massive manhunt continues for fugitive ex-cop Christopher Dorner. Dorner is wanted in the shooting deaths of a young couple and a police officer in Southern California. Dorner is a former LAPD cop with military and weapons training from his time in the U.S. Navy. And he’s reportedly armed with assault rifles and other weapons. [Images: CBS , ABC ] The search has expanded to three states and also Mexico, but the focus now is in Big Bear, a ski resort area in northern California. [Video: Fox ] There, police have located Dorner's burned-out pickup truck, and put city buildings and schools on lockdown. In strange new twist, CNN reports that Dorner mailed Anderson Cooper a parcel last week, which the CNN host learned of Thursday. [Image: KABC ] “Inside the package was a hand-labeled DVD with a yellow Post-It Note, reading, in part, quote, 'I never lied,' apparently in reference to his dismissal from the LAPD in 2008. And what you’re seeing on the screen is a coin that was inside the package.” Cooper said the coin, an LAPD souvenir, had several bullets holes in it, and was inscribed with the words, "Thanks but no thanks, Will Bratton" — the LAPD’s former chief. Dorner was reportedly fired from the department in 2009 for making false statements. Authorities have also confirmed Dorner posted a disturbing manifesto to Facebook in which he personally addresses other TV personalities, as well as celebrities including Bill Cosby, Anthony Bourdain, and Charlie Sheen. [Image: KTTV ] Also in his manifesto -- Dorner threatens warfare against police officers and their families. Oddly enough, the ex-cop also offers his support of gun control, ranting against the NRA and praising the efforts of President Obama. A snowstorm is expected to reach Big Bear overnight where authorities are searching door to door, making the search even more complicated. [Video: KCBS ]
