(Image source: Los Angeles Police Department )   BY ELIZABETH HAGEDORN   Law enforcement appears to be closing in on fugitive ex-cop Christopher Dorner. The cabin where the man believed to be the triple murder suspect was hiding is now engulfed in flames...And authorities are unsure whether Dorner is still inside. [Video: HLN ] Officers engaged in a shootout with the suspect Tuesday afternoon... leaving one officer dead and another in critical condition. A spokesperson for the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department says authorities have reason to believe the suspect is in fact Dorner. [Video: ABC ] “We have plenty of air support, and we need to let them do their job and bring this incident to a safe ending.” [Video:  NBC Los Angeles ] Take a listen to this audio of what sounds like gunfire recorded by a KCAL reporter on the scene “I see a lot of these authorities moving to take cover themselves...”  A source tells the LA Times -- Dorner broke into a home in California’s Big Bear mountain area several days ago -- tying up the couple inside, and stealing their vehicle. Then, state Fish and Wildlife officers apparently spotted a man matching Dorner’s description in a white pickup truck. The San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department says the man then barricaded himself inside another mountain cabin, following a shootout with police. [Video: KTLA ] In a news conference, the LAPD urged Dorner to turn himself in. “If he's watching this, the message... is: Enough is enough. It's time to turn yourself in. It's time to stop the bloodshed. It's time to let this event and let this incident be over."  [Video: Fox News ] Police have reportedly closed off all roads leading to the cabin and have imposed a no-fly zone above it. Authorities believe the suspect may have access to television and have asked the media not to broadcast live video of the shootout, as it could put officers at a disadvantage. [Video: MSNBC ]
