Android and iPhone users alike will now be able to use the popular app Flipboard. The app debuted Friday for Android phones worldwide. The app’s co-producers tell ABC News they’re confident it will look just as good on these phones.

“For right now we just started with Android phones because we see a lot of those out in the wild. People are using them and in particular in social situations. You’re standing in line and you take out your phone and you want to get a quick hit of information.”

A blogger for The New York Times says any app-developer’s goal is to attract a bigger audience. Apps like Instagram have recently made the same move away from flying solo on the iPhone.

“Flipboard follows a trend of hot apps that started out as iOS exclusives but eventually decided to add Android...All of these companies agree that Android brings in big numbers that can’t be ignored.”

A blogger from Mobile Geeks says the app is a great page-turning, informative, content-reading tool. But when it comes to seeing all stories — he prefers other applications.

“If I really want to do some news scanning and to see what I am going to blog about, I will definitely switch over to a Google reader, or to Veetle.”

Even though the app will not be released for tablets, YouTube and Google+ will be integrated into it. GigaOM says this addition will not only allow users to see updates from their activity stream but also watch videos.

“That brings a lot of great video to a service that has been primarily about stories, pictures and updates.”

The tech site also says users in Germany, Korea, Italy, Spain, and the Netherlands will each have access to customized versions.
